Welcome One and All

Hi there! My name is Sophia and I am a 22-year old writer living in Las Vegas. I was born in Long Beach, California and spent most of my life in Upstate New York, when my family choose to move to my father’s hometown. I lived in New Hartford for 14 years, a small town near beautiful forests and waterfalls, where I fell in love with hiking, swimming, and the changing seasons.

Last winter, I graduated from Stony Brook University with a degree in journalism, while working full-time as a staff writer. I worked at The Long Islander, a local Huntington newspaper for a year, reporting on everything from art to community news to food critiques.

I have always felt like a California girl at heart and kept a deep connection to the West Coast, returning often to visit my mom’s family. My love for sunshine, the ocean, and animals have drawn me towards a passion for exploring nature’s beauty. Anywhere I go, I hope to take in these wonders.

I recently moved closer to my favorite coast for a fresh start in July, ready to take in new energy, opportunities, and scenery. I have found myself on a journey of self-discovery and reflection, welcoming what the universe brings and teaches.

I hope for this blog to be a place of freedom. Where I can freely express my thoughts and in turn, openly accept yours. Where I allow myself to liberally try, discover and learn. Where my words aren’t censored by journalistic standards, editors, professors, or my own fears to be vulnerable. As I said, in my first post on this blog, you are free to take in and ponder what resonates with you from my writing and pass over anything you don’t vibe with.

Thank you for visiting, it means a great deal to me that you happened upon my blog. I wish you happiness and wellness!
